Welcoming Piper Kate | Louisville Newborn Lifestyle Photographer

Do you know anyone that makes you happy just by being around them?  Well, this family is definitely one of those families.  They are two of the most kind-hearted, genuine people I've had the opportunity to work with.  I met Brittany and Nick back in December when we got together to take Brittany's maternity photos.  It was freezing outside, but they made the session so much fun.  I got to visit with them again in February after they welcomed their sweet girl, Piper Kate, into the world.  Watching them love on and care for their little girl was so heartwarming.  They were both so patient and gentle with her while being silly and fun with one another.  I barely had to guide them along because they were so natural and comfortable with one another and their precious girl.

I never would have known by the way they were acting, but Nick would be leaving for deployment just two days after our session.  Despite the circumstances, they were both so positive with such joyful spirits, enjoying and savoring the moments they had with one another.  Meeting people like Brittany and Nick who face challenges with strength, courage and positivity help you remember what's really important in life (and how pointless so many of our silly everyday worries are).

Nick was already an absolute pro at being Piper Kate's dad - He changed her, bounced her, shushed and calmed her when it was needed.  He held her close, talked to her and let it be known that he was already wrapped around her little finger.  Even though he has to spend some time away from her, they already have such an unbreakable and special bond that Piper will be able to look back on and cherish.

And what can I say about Brittany?  This lady is so strong.  A new momma, a supportive, loving and encouraging wife, and a woman of true strength.  I can only imagine the ups and downs of having a newborn and a husband who is deployed, but there's no doubt in my mind that Brittany faces each day with a positive spirit and loving heart, knowing that her husband will safely be home soon and that this season of their lives will only strengthen their family and their journey together.

This family was such an important reminder of the sacrifice our servicemen and women and their families make to serve our country.  To serve US.  I am so thankful for that, and grateful that this family opened their home and hearts to me during such a special time in their lives.  I can only hope that one day they will all look back on these photos, especially Piper Kate, and be reminded of the strong love and precious time they shared together in the very beginning and keep those memories tucked away in their hearts forever.

Thank you, Brittany and Nick, and congratulations on your sweet little girl!
